Vodka is a distilled spirit that is usually made from fermented cereal grains or potatoes. The word “vodka” comes from a form of the Slavic voda (water), wherevodka roughly translates into “little water.” The origins of vodka are widely disputed, but it is said to have either been invented in Poland or Russia somewhere between the 8th and 9th centuries.

Traditionally vodka is often chilled and drunk neat. It is also a popular cocktail ingredient and can be found in drinks such as Cosmopolitan, Screwdriver and Bloody Mary.

Vodka typically has an alcohol content of around 40% alcohol by volume. 11909944_1604423763164715_987783951_n
